Overview
Are you an experienced UX/UI designer who enjoys being part of a collaborative team? Bedrock Learning has an opportunity for a UX/UI designer to help transform outcomes with captivating, aspirational PedTech. Reporting to the Head of Product, this is an opportunity to work in a team committed to using technology to improve literacy. You will play a pivotal role in driving the design and enhancement of our innovative educational products. Working with our team requires a blend of insight and technical skills, as you will be translating real-world problems into user-friendly designs, features, and prototypes. You will partner with industry experts and collaborate with a product development team to enhance the Bedrock Learning platform, providing transformative learning experiences and actionable data for schools.
Core Responsibilities
- Establish an interactive design process, supporting quick feedback loops.
- Applying various techniques, from paper-based prototyping to high-fidelity designs.
- Work closely with the product development team to translate requirements into data-driven, intuitive designs to meet business and user needs.
- Develop and maintain a design language and component library to support consistency and testability.
- Design effective and delightful user interfaces and interaction patterns to help users achieve their goals.
- Determine the best UX solutions based on customer feedback and business goals while helping to determine the overall direction, identifying challenges, and adapting as needed.
- Advocate for user-centric design principles and facilitate workshops, user interviews, usability testing, and discovery activities to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes, decisions, and guidelines.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and design tools/methodologies.
- Continuously test and analyse solutions to ensure optimal performance and usability, ensuring that solutions achieve their intended goal.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and confidently articulate design content with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Proven experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work on various projects.
- Knowledge of different design processes, knowing what steps are needed and which ones can be skipped based on the specific project or problem you are working on.
- Analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying insights to improve design outcomes.
- Desire to be self-motivated and use initiative to deliver in line with the product and business strategy.
- Able to take and deliver constructive criticism.
- Focus on accessibility and inclusion when designing components, interfaces and interactions.
- Preferable experience working on a SaaS-based platform with high achievement of customer self-service.
- Preferable frontend development skills, capable of creating HTML components to be shared with the Engineering team.
